No. 7 BYU struggled to find momentum against No. 8 Texas Tech, falling 29-7 on Saturday afternoon at Jones AT&T Stadium, dropping the Cougars to 8-1 this season and 5-1 in Big 12 Conference play.
In the matchup, BYU recorded 255 yards to Texas Tech's 368. Bear Bachmeier notched 188 passing yards with a completion rate of 61. The Red Raider defense held the Cougars to 67 rushing yards, with LJ Martin leading the way with 35.
Led by Jack Kelly's two, the Cougar defense totaled four sacks, all of which were in the first half. This marks the second-straight game with four sacks and the first time all season Texas Tech had given up four in a game.
After trailing 26-0 in the beginning of the fourth, Bachmeier hit Chase Roberts on a six-yard touchdown pass to put some points on the board. The touchdown marked Roberts' 17th of his career. The senior led the receiver room with six catches for 61 yards.
Linebacker Isaiah Glasker led the defense in tackles with 10. Additionally, the junior linebacker had one sack and two tackles for loss.
