The BYU running game and defense led the way as the Cougars won their second conference game, a 24-13 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys in Provo. The defense limited the Cowboys to 322 net yards and picked off four passes while the running game amassed 237 yards.

Curtis Brown led the way, running for 159 yards and one touchdown while Fahu Tahi chipped in 70 yards and one touchdown. Brown also was a threat throwing the ball, completing a 40-yard touchdown pass to Austin Collie in the first quarter for BYU's first score. Brown accounted for 95 of the Cougars' 96 first-quarter yards.

The Cougars and Cowboys exchanged field goals, putting the score at 10-3 before Wyoming scored 10 unanswered points, a 40-yard field goal and a 35-yard touchdown play, to take the 13-10 lead.

After the Wyoming touchdown, BYU answered with a touchdown of its own, a nine-yard run by Curtis Brown. The score capped a nine-play, 80-yard drive that did not include a single passing play. The defense preserved the 17-13 lead the rest of the way and the offense added another touchdown with 2:06 remaining on a 15-yard run by Fahu Tahi to seal the victory.

With the win, the Cougars improved to 17-1 in the last 18 games when rushing over 150 yards.
