The largest home crowd so far gathered to see the Cougars overcome a stubborn Hawaii, and watch Marc Wilson break his fourth NCAA record. Wilson became the first player to accumulate 300 or more yards in total offense for eight games in his career. Wilson went 28-49-1 for 342 yards and three touchdowns in the process of picking up the record. Two of those touchdown passes went to Matt Braga in the second and fourth quarters. The third went to Bill Davis. Wilson also rushed for the initial Cougar score, Homer Jones rushed for a TD, and Brent Johnson was responsible for 5 PATs and a field goal. Hawaii lit up the scoreboard with 2 TDs on a pass and a rush, in the second and fourth quarters respectively. BYU now 4-0, a BYU record for most consecutive games won at the beginning of the season.
