A week later the Cougars were right where the Wyoming Cowboys wanted them; high and floating from the Saturday before... and in Laramie. Surprisingly, it was a defensive battle that was tight right down to the final gun. BYU scoring was limited to a touchdown (Wilson to Thompson) and a field goal in the second quarter. Wyoming's score came on an 80-yard drive with Myron Hardman scoring on an 11-yard run. But the Cowboys fumbled the ball nine times, losing it seven times. BYU, meanwhile, was giving up six interceptions. Edwards described the contest as, "the toughest of the year."
