Facing Arizona for the last time as WAC rivals, the Cougars stepped off to a quick lead, holding a 27-0 edge midway through the second period. The win assured BYU of a winning season. Fullback Todd Christensen was sidelined with an injury, but the Cougars other running backs rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Mike Chronister carried the ball twice on reverses for a total of 56 yards. BYU finished with 554 yards total offense. Wilson passed (43-23-2) for 334 yards and two touchdowns.
